How to Apply to the Internship Program

Each applicant will need to create an online application for consideration. Please read Rules & Eligibility for details.

Required Materials for Application: *

  1. Professional Statement (300-400 words maximum) discussing the specific reasons for your choice of category, what identifies you as unique, how television has influenced your life, and what you are hoping to contribute and get out of this internship.
NOTE: Getting Real: Unscripted: 750 words maximum - see below.

  2. Resume (Remove all photos and references)

  3. Transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended, both undergrad and graduate school, if applicable (unofficial photocopies will be accepted). If you are unable to obtain transcripts from the current semester, you must include a list of classes in which you are currently enrolled. Graduate students who do not submit undergrad transcripts will automatically be disqualified.  For Spring and Fall: If you are attending a Semester in LA program, you will need to show proof of acceptance or other proof of enrollment for that semester in LA if you become a finalist.

  4. One letter of recommendation addressed to the Internship Committee. Professional references include any person who has had a supervisory role with you in the classroom, an internship, work, or project-based environment. Personal references will not be accepted. All letters MUST be signed and include an email address and/or phone number. No exceptions. Digital signatures are acceptable.

There are two ways to upload a letter of recommendation:

    1. You may send the link to the person providing your reference (aka referee). They will receive an email with instructions for uploading directly into your application. A notification will be sent to you once the letter has been uploaded so you may go back in to submit your application for completion.

    2. You may request the letter from the referee directly so you may upload into the application platform yourself.

Either you or the referee will need to fill out their contact information within the application.

We suggest following up with your recommenders to make sure they received it and to ensure they are able to submit by the deadline. You will not be able to submit for completion until ALL materials have been uploaded.

  5. Supplemental materials (ONLY as necessary where indicated by category).
NOTE: If a video link is required, it must be viewable without a password and uploaded via YouTube, Vimeo, or a publicly shared Dropbox folder. Materials must be combined into one link only. Private videos and broken links will result in automatic disqualification.
