The Television Academy, based in the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California, is a nonprofit organization devoted to celebrating and empowering storytellers to push the boundaries of what Television can be. The only major organization fully representing the television and broadband screen entertainment industry, it is made up of over 26,000 members, representing 31 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives.

The Television Academy recognizes excellence among its peers with the Emmy award, culminating in the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast each fall. The Television Academy also produces several other awards shows and a variety of activities and events for its members throughout the year. These events are featured across the Academy's digital platforms and in its award-winning emmy magazine.

Established in 1959 as the charitable arm of the Television Academy, the Television Academy Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of television while educating and inspiring those who will shape its future. Job Opportunities

Senior Manager, Accounting

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Controller. The role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule; however, the first three months of employment will be fully onsite as part of the training period. The expected salary range for this position will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

Summary of Position

The Senior Manager, Accounting, plays a key role within the Finance team, responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and oversight of core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financial analysis, and audit coordination. This position provides strategic support to senior leadership and helps guide junior accounting staff, by assuming formal managerial responsibilities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable, credit card transactions, and payroll are recorded properly.   

  • Perform timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., net assets, investments, revenue, expenses, payroll allocations, etc.), ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.   

  • Draft internal financial reports and supporting analytics for senior management  

  • Manage annual audit/tax preparation and liaise with external auditors.  

  • Ensure all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  

  • Perform or assist with bi-weekly payroll processing as needed, serving as back-up support to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution.  

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual organizational budget and quarterly departmental forecasts.  

  • Support special project and process improvement initiatives.  

  • Supervise junior accounting staff.  

Minimum Requirements

Education and Training   

  • Bachelor’s degree required, degree in finance, accounting, or relevant field.   

  • Master’s degree and/or CPA certification a plus. 

Experience   

  • At least 5 years in mid to senior-level financial management and accounting positions, preferably in a nonprofit organization or association.   

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.   

  • Working knowledge of GP Dynamics. Preference for candidates with experience with constituent relationship management software, payroll, and expense software.  

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), especially in relation to nonprofit organizations.   

  • Experience overseeing an annual audit.   

  • Superior data management, data analysis, mathematical, and deductive reasoning skills.  

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.   

  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.

Quality Control (QC) Specialist, Digital Systems - Temporary

This is a temporary/contract position. The hourly pay rate ranges from $26 to $30 per hour. The role reports directly to the Project Management team.

Summary of Position

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Quality Control (QC) Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis to support the testing of our digital viewing platform for the Television Academy, along with other digital platforms and video experiences. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that involves testing across a wide range of devices (browsers, mobile, tablets, OTT platforms) to ensure flawless playback and optimal user experience.

You’ll be part of a team responsible for spotting issues before our users do—ensuring everything works smoothly, looks great, and meets high-quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous functional, UI/UX, and playback testing across web, mobile (iOS/Android), and OTT (Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, etc.) platforms.

  • Validate video and audio quality, closed captions, metadata, and other key elements across platforms.

  • Identify, document, and clearly communicate bugs, inconsistencies, and edge case issues using project management tools (e.g., Jira, Monday).

  • Reproduce and isolate issues reported by stakeholders or users.

  • Work with the development and support teams to ensure timely resolution of defects.

  • Assist with voting tests, and other QA tasks during new releases.

  • Stay organized and on schedule in a deadline-driven environment with multiple overlapping test cycles.

Special Requirements

  • 1–3 years experience in digital Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or a related field—preferably in media, entertainment, or streaming platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of cross-platform testing, including web browsers, iOS/Android apps, and OTT devices.

  • Familiarity with video formats, streaming protocols, and accessibility standards (e.g., closed captioning).

  • Proficient in testing tools and bug tracking systems like Jira

  • Excellent attention to detail and a knack for spotting subtle issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Marketing Coordinator - Temporary

This is a temporary/contract position. The hourly pay rate ranges from $28 per hour. The role reports directly to the Senior Marketing Manager.

Summary of Position

The Marketing Coordinator (TEMP) will report to the Senior Marketing Manager supporting the Television Academy Foundation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the digital marketing team to elevate awareness and visibility for the Foundation’s six core programs and fundraising initiatives. Responsibilities include maintaining dynamic and trend-responsive social media channels, contributing to integrated marketing efforts, and playing a key role in promoting access and inclusion between the television industry and educational communities. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, scheduling, and management of content across digital platforms, including website, email, and social media. 

  • Support marketing efforts for fundraising campaigns, educational programs, and signature events. 

  • Coordinate the production of marketing materials, including flyers, newsletters, social media assets, and press releases. 

  • Manage email marketing campaigns, including audience segmentation, scheduling, and performance tracking. 

  • Work closely with graphic designers, writers, and external vendors to ensure brand consistency and timely execution of campaigns 

  • Creates original content mobile-first, short-form video content, and live executions. 

  • Handles creative requests and asset delivery for owned and operated social media and digital channels. 

  • Acts as the eyes and ears for the Sr. Marketing Manager reviewing TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky and other platforms through content creation, community management, and an understanding of the overall ecosystem and platform trends. 

  • Works with multiple departments and stakeholders to create, copy-edit, and post social media content for the Television Academy Foundation. 

  • Occasional social coverage of live events for the Television Academy Foundation, using social media tools and platforms. 

  • Work with Social Media team to maintain daily/weekly social media calendars and posting cadence that are aligned with strategy and any sponsorship deliverables. 

  • Collaborates with development department in executing brand partnerships/ activations. 

  • Generates custom social media analytics reports using social media platforms native insights and analytics tools. 

  • Tracks content against KPIs, identifying trends and best practices. 

  • Executes Community Management across all social platforms including tracking sentiment about alumni, promotions, and events. 

  • Performs other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements

  • 1–3 years of marketing experience, preferably in entertainment, non-profit, or event marketing. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Must be able to multitask 

  • Critical thinker and problem-solver. 

  • Organized, self-motivated, excellent time management 

  • Experience with social media platforms, content management systems, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Salesforce). 

  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
