We’re excited to invite you to GenJam, hosted by Machine Cinema as part of the Television Academy’s AI Toolkit Series.
Theme: Doing Is Better Than Showing.
After two AI Summits and ten Toolkit sessions, it’s time to put what we’ve learned into practice and experiment.
Our first GenJam in August was a huge success. By popular demand, we’re doing it again!
This is not a panel. Not a demo.
It’s a hands-on, virtual jam session where participants team up to co-create original work using generative AI tools. Think of it like a music jam—only your instruments are text, sound, visuals, and narrative AI models. No experience necessary.
What is a GenJam?
Short for Generative Jam, GenJam is a collaborative creative sprint rooted in real-time experimentation. Whether you’re exploring visual storytelling, sound design, or narrative invention, this is your space to test ideas, have fun, and build something unexpected.
Join us on Zoom. Bring your curiosity.
No prior AI experience required—just a willingness to play.
At the end of the session, teams will share what they created and reflect on surprises, challenges, and creative insights from the jam.
Why Join
GenJam is part of the AI Toolkit Series, designed to help Television Academy members:
• Gain hands-on experience with AI tools
• Explore new creative workflows
• Collaborate across disciplines and departments

Top 10 Tips for an Awesome GenJam
This is about learning. Don’t worry about how your piece turns out, relax and have fun!
Generate and ideate at the same time.
Set clear roles for the team: i.e. editor, image generator, etc. It will help your jam be a smooth experience. (At least one editor will be assigned to all groups.)
Start editing within an hour.
Use chat tools for prompts as needed.
We recommend you avoid famous people, children, violence, sex as tools often block these.
Download tools in advance if you can, it will save you time.
Get weird! Experiment and try stuff.
Specificity and context are key to getting a fun generative result.
Potential prompts may include: unexpected holiday cards, TV fan experiences, year in review, nostalgic TV ads and more.
There are no stupid questions! We will have coaches floating into the rooms.
We hope you’ll join us for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to experiment, collaborate, and imagine what’s possible.
