From the Chair: Watch, Vote, Celebrate — The 77th Emmys Are Almost Here

Cris AbregoAs this issue is reaching you, the final round of voting for the 77th Emmy Awards has officially begun. Like any election, the credibility of television’s most prestigious honor is bolstered by a robust turnout, and I’m enormously proud that we made Emmys history in the number of voting members who participated in this year’s nominations round. I urge all of you to keep that energy going and make the time to watch the nominated work of your colleagues (our online viewing platform is a convenient resource), so that you can make the most informed decisions possible.

Voting is not only one of the most important responsibilities of being an Academy member but also one of our greatest privileges as well. Collectively, we have the opportunity to choose the programs and artists who become our ambassadors of sorts, whose statuettes signal to studio executives, advertisers and audiences that this is the kind of work worth investing in. Ensuring that our Emmys accurately reflect our tastes as industry professionals elevates all of us.

Remember, the deadline for final-round voting is Wednesday, August 27. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannáe Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment are returning for a third straight year to executive-produce the show, while Nate Bargatze, who had the world’s top-selling stand-up tour last year, will grace our stage in his Emmys hosting debut. Sunday, September 14 will be a can’t-miss night of celebration and entertainment, whether you’re joining us live on CBS, on-demand on Paramount+ or inside the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The Creative Arts Emmys will be presented live at the Peacock Theater in a two-day ceremony the weekend of September 6–7, produced once again by Bob Bain Productions, and FXX will air an edited presentation the following Saturday, September 13.

Although our work at the Academy is year-round, there’s no denying the excitement of Emmys season, our flagship enterprise. With so many more mediums competing for public attention, this is our greatest platform for making ourselves visible, showing off the excellence in our industry and immortalizing a new class of work that will represent the best television of the past year, for all generations to come.
