Allan B. Schwartz was a producer and entertainment executive who worked for NBC, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures, Fries Entertainment and Playboy TV.

Schwartz got his start in 1959 as a copy boy for ABC News before moving on to NBC as a unit manager.

He later produced and directed an episode of ABC’s Discovery and worked on the television movies Getting Away from It All and Lethal Exposure.

Additionally, Schwartz was a production executive on films, including 1972’s Sleuth, starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, and The Heartbreak Kid, with Charles Grodin and Cybill Shepherd.

Later, he worked at Fox as a vice president for movies of the week, then as an executive producer at Columbia and Multimedia Entertainment, and finally as a programming vice president at Fries and an executive vice president at Playboy Television.

Schwartz died April 20, 2017, in Greenville, North Carolina. He was 77.
