Allan Williams was the first manager of the Beatles. He was instrumental in the famed band’s crucial beginning years, responsible for scheduling them gigs at small clubs in Hamburg, Germany.

The Beatles then became the house band at Indra, where they would perform shows for hours, honing their craft.

Williams would go on to open the Jacaranda club in 1958 and promote other bands in the Liverpool area.

He also appeared in the television documentaries All You Need Is Love, I Knew John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe: The Lost Beatle, as well as an episode of And the Beat Goes On.

Williams died December 30, 2016, in Liverpool, England. He was 86.
