Allen Daviau was an American cinematographer.

He is perhaps best known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg on the films E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), The Color Purple (1985), and Empire of the Sun (1987). Daviau also provided additional photography on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977).

He began his career shooting pre-MTV-era music videos for the Animals and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In 1968, he met Steven Spielberg and the duo made their first 35mm short film, Amblin.

Daviau was the director of photography on The Falcon and the Snowman (1985), Harry and Hendersons (1987), Avalon (1990), Defending Your Life (1991), Bugsy (1991), Congo (1995), The Astronaut's Wife (1999), and Van Helsing (2004).

In television, Daviau's camera work is displayed on Amazing Stories, Legs, Rage!, The Boy Who Drank Too Much, The Streets of L.A., and Mooch.

Daviau died April 15, 2020, in Woodland Hills, California. He was 77.
