Barry Blaustein was a writer who worked on television series and films. He was best known for his collaborations with Eddie Murphy, which began when Blaustein was a writer on Saturday Night Live. He and his writing partner David Sheffield wrote sketches that centered on his takes on Gumby and Buckwheat. They also wrote sketches about "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood," which was a parody of "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood."

Blaustein was also well known for his collaborations in film with Murphy. He and Sheffield co-wrote "Coming to America," "The Nutty Professor," and "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps."

In addition to his narrative work, Blaustein also wrote, directed, and narrated a documentary about wrestling called "Beyond the Mat."
