Ben Cross was an British actor.
A student of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Cross made his big-screen debut in the Richard Attenborough film A Bridge Too Far (1977).
He is perhaps best known for portraying the gold medal-winning Olympic sprinter Harold Abrahams, in the Oscar winning film Chariots of Fire (1981) and he also appeared in Live Wire (1992), Cold Sweat (1993), First Knight (1995), and Star Trek (2009).
In television, Cross had starring roles in Dark Shadows, Banshee, and Pandora, and appeared in a number of television miniseries including The Citadel, The Far Pavillions, Solomon, The Potato Factory, and Ben Hur.
Cross died August 18, 2020, in Vienna, Austria. He was 72.
