Benjamin Melniker was an American film producer.

He was best known as an executive producer on the Batman film series and other DC Comics films.

Melniker started at MGM in 1939 and worked his way upward at the company, eventually becoming an executive vice president and chairman of the film selection committee at the studio. Melniker was involved in a number of important deals at the studio, including those for Ben Hur, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Dr. Zhivago.

After leaving MGM, in 1979 Melniker teamed with producer Michael E. Uslan to buy the movie rights to DC Comics’ Batman, a decision that would lead to his placement in the credits for everything from 1989’s Batman to 2017's Justice League.

Melniker’s television credits include executive production work on Dinosaucers, Swamp Thing, Fish Police, and Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?

Melniker died February 26, 2018, in Roslyn Harbor, New York. He was 104.
