Bob L. Harris was a singer and actor who worked in both television and feature films.
Born in Oklahoma, Harris served in the Army during World War II and began his entertainment career as a singer and in the early 1950s appeared on The Fred Waring Show as a meber of Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. Other early TV work included The Perry Como Show, The Martha Raye Show and The Garry Moore Show.
As an actor he was a member of the Northminster Players in Evanston, Illinois, from 1983 to 2005. He also had roles in the feature films Pollock and Appaloosa, both of which starred and were directed by his son, Ed Harris.
His television roles include A Flash of Green, for the PBS series American Playhouse, and the made-for-TV movie Riders of the Purple Sage, with his son and his daughter-in-law, Amy Madigan.
Harris died on February 14, 2014, in Evanston, Illinois. He was 91.
