Character actor Booth Colman was a well known face in movies and television, but perhaps his best known role was one in which his face never showed.

Colman played Dr. Zaius in the short-lived television series Planet of the Apes, recreating a role played by his mentor and teacher, Maurice Evans, in the film of the same name and its sequels.

Colman also had a recurring role in the daytime drama The Young and the Restless, and numerous guest roles in such series as Lou Grant, Frasier, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and My Name Is Earl.

He also appeared in the films Intolerable Cruelty, Norma Rae and The Man Who Wasn't There.

Colman died on December 15, 2014, at age 91.
