Danny Wells was an actor known for playing Charlie the bartender on the 1970s TV comedy The Jeffersons and the role of Luigi on the children's program The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
A native of Canada, Wells worked in film and television for more than 40 years. He got his start in the early ’70s with parts in such U.S. television series as Love, American Style, Rhoda and Ironside. In the years that followed he appeared in dozens of other shows, including Starsky and Hutch, Kojak, Columbo, The Streets of San Francisco, Sanford and Son, CHPS, Eight Is Enough, Happy Days, The A-Team, Murder, She Wrote and, more recently, Blue Mountain State and Rookie Blue. In addition to his regular roles on The Jeffersons and Super Mario Bros., he played movie executive Jack Warner in the 2002 made-for-TV movie Gleason, which starred Brad Garrett as renowned entertainer Jackie Gleason.
His feature film credits included The Strongest Man in the World, The Shaggy D.A. and Magnolia.
Wells died November 28, 2013, in Toronto. He was 72.
