Dave Legeno was a British actor, mixed martial arts fighter and boxer who was best known for the role of werewolf Fenrir Greyback in three installments of the Harry Potter movie franchise. In addition, he worked frequently in British television.
Born in London's Marylebone district, he worked as a bouncer and wrestler prior to boxing acting. He made his professional debut with a small role in the 2000 film Snatch, written and directed by Guy Ritchie. He went on to appear in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The makeup for his role took two-and-a-half hours to apply.
His other movies included Batman Begins and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
On television, his credits included episodes of such U.K. series as The Bill, EastEnders and The Last Detective, as well as such miniseries as Roman's Empire, Great Expectations and Borgia. He was also seen in Ripper Street, which aired in the U.S. on BBC America.
Legeno died July 6, 2014, in Death Valley, California. He was 50.
