Denise Cronenberg was a Canadian-born costume designer.
A ballet dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, she took up fashion design before beginning a career in film and television.
Cronenberg's first feature as a costume designer was The Fly (1986), directed by her brother, David Cronenberg. She would design costumes for all of his subsequent films including Dead Ringers (1988), Naked Lunch (1991), M. Butterfly (1993), eXistenZ (1999), A History of Violence (2005), Eastern Promises (2007) and Cosmopolis (2012).
She also led the costume department on William Friedkin's The Guardian (1990), Moonlight and Valentino (1995), Murder at 1600 (1997), Dracula 2000 (2000), Dawn of the Dead (2004), Dead Silence (2007), The Incredible Hulk (2008), and Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010).
In television, Cronenberg designed for the HBO films Sugartime and Mistrial.
Cronenberg died May 22, 2020, in Ontario, Canada. She was 81.
