Dennis Shryack was a writer best known for his work on Clint Eastwood’s films The Gauntlet and Pale Rider.

Shryack also penned The Good Guys and the Bad Guys, The Car, Flashpoint, Code of Silence, Rent-a-Cop, Hero and the Terror, Cadence, Run and Malevolent.

In addition, he wrote the screenplay and story for Turner & Hooch, starring Tom Hanks. The film was adapted for a TV movie the following year.

He also contributed to the telefilms Revenge on the Highway and Aces ’N’ Eights.

Shryack got his start in entertainment in the mailroom of Universal Pictures and later became a literary agent, before becoming a screenwriter.

He died September 14, 2016, in Duluth, Minnesota. He was 80.
