Derrick O'Connor was an Irish actor.

Born in Dublin and raised in London, O'Connor was a distinguished member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Scottish National Theatre, with lead stage roles in Edinburgh, Stratford-on-Avon and the West End.

O’Connor’s best-known film role in the U.S. was Pieter Vorstedt, a murderous South African security official, in Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon 2, the second film in the action franchise starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Other film appearances include End of Days (with Arnold Schwarzenegger), Hope and Glory (with Sarah Miles), and How to Make an American Quilt (with Winona Ryder).

O’Connor appeared in three films directed by Terry Gilliam: Jabberwocky, Time Bandits, and Brazil.

His television work includes Murder, She Wrote, Tracey Takes On…, Alias, and Monk.

O’Connor died June 29, 2018, in Santa Barbara, California. He was 77.
