Don Farmer was an American reporter and foreign correspondent.

He was perhaps most widely known as one of the original anchors on CNN and for his long career as a correspondent for ABC News.

After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, Farmer began his career with NBC News’ election unit in Philadelphia.

In the 1960s, Farmer served as an ABC News correspondent covering the civil rights movement in Alabama, including the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the riots at the Democratic National Convention.

Farmer also worked for ABC News in London and Germany, where, as bureau chief and international correspondent, he was sent to the Middle East, Vietnam, Cambodia, and other countries in turmoil.

He was then moved to Washington D.C. to cover Congress before joining CNN in 1980 to anchor the daily newscast Take Two.

Farmer died March 31, 2021, in Naples, Florida. He was 82.
