Elmarie Wendel was an American actress and singer.

Wendel began her career on the stage in New York City in both Broadway and off-Broadway productions. She joined the national touring company of Annie, which brought her to Los Angeles, where she made a successful transition into film and television.

Her most successful television role was that of Mrs. Dubcek, the Solomon family’s landlady, on NBC’s sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. She played the role throughout the show’s run, from 1996 to 2001.

Her other television credits include Knight Rider, The Jeffersons, The Facts of Life, Murphy Brown, Major Dad, Seinfeld, Murder, She Wrote, NYPD Blue, George Lopez, and The Exes.

Wendel died July 21, 2018. She was 78.
