Frank Adonis was an American actor.
He made his film debut with an uncredited role in 1971’s The French Connection.
Adonis had small roles in such films as Lucky Luciano, The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight and Shaft’s Big Score! before landing a role in Raging Bull, which starred Robert De Niro, and was directed by Martin Scorsese. He would go on to appear Scorsese’s films Goodfellas (his character was in the classic “funny like a clown?” scene), and Casino.
Adonis’s other film appearances include Eyes of Laura Mars, Wall Street, King of New York, Bad Lieutenant, True Romance, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
His television credits include The Sopranos, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, New York Undercover and The Equalizer.
Adonis died December 26, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 83.
