Gary Dontzig was an Emmy Award-winning writer and producer who worked on television series.
Dontzig and his long-time writing partner, Steven Peterman, were a part of the original writing staff of the iconic series Murphy Brown. Over their six years on the show they wrote 25 episodes and were involved in producing 150, winning three Emmys in the process. They also co-wrote the famous episodes which responded to Vice President Dan Quayle’s attack on Murphy Brown’s decision to have a baby as a single woman.
Dontzig and Peterman then went on to develop and executive produce the first three years of Suddenly Susan, which won a People’s Choice Award for Brooke Shields. This was followed by two years on the critically acclaimed Fox Family series State of Grace, for which the team received a Humanitas nomination.
