Harry Kooperstein was an American director and producer.

A music major at Ohio State University, Kooperstein worked in television production in the Midwest and in Puerto Rico before moving out west in the late 1970s.

He would go on to direct newscasts for KCOP-TV, the flagship local programming station in Los Angeles, direct musical specials for the Ahmanson Theater, produce the Hollywood Christmas Parade, and was a long-serving governor for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Kooperstein also directed the TV movie This Joint is Jumpin' (1993) and the TV movie documentary Natalie – A Tribute to a Very Special Lady (1982), as well as directed and produced a number of Live from the Hollywood Bowl TV specials.

He was the winner of 17 local Emmy Awards, including eight for his contributions to the annual Live from the Hollywood Bowl telecasts.

Kooperstein died March 30, 2021, in Palm Desert, California. He was 79.
