Harvey Atkin was a Canadian actor best known for his role as staff sergeant captain Ronald Coleman on the 1980s detective series Cagney and Lacey, and for his breakout role in Ivan Reitman’s 1979 comedy Meatballs, as camp director Morty, opposite Bill Murray.

Atkin also had a recurring role as Judge Alan Ridenour on the NBC drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent. Additionally, he appeared on the series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Beetlejuice, RoboCop, Goosebumps, Law & Order, Ed and Suits.

He was also a frequent voice actor, and contributed to the series A.L.F., Swamp Thing, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, The Adventures of Tintin, X-Men, Tales from the Cryptkeeper and Sailor Moon.

Atkin died July 17, 2017, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was 74.
