Helen McCrory was an English-born actress.
She was most widely known for playing Draco Malfoy’s mother, Narcissa, in the Harry Potter film franchise as well as her role as Polly Gray, aunt of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby, in the television series Peaky Blinders.
A graduate of the Drama Centre London, McCrory enjoyed success on the stage as well as the screen, appearing in dozens of productions including The Importance of Being Earnest, Macbeth, and As You Like It.
She landed her first role on television in the series Full Stretch and would go on to recur in The Fragile Heart, North Square, The Jury, Dickens, Life, To Appomattox, and Penny Dreadful. She also appeared in a number of mini-series including Anna Karenina, In a Land of Plenty, The Last King, Leaving, Fearless, Quiz, Roadkill, and she lent her voice to a demon in His Dark Materials.
On the big screen, McCrory was seen in Charlotte Gray (2001), Casanova (2005), The Queen (2006), Hugo (2011), and Skyfall (2012).
McCrory died April 16, 2021, in London, England. She was 52.
