Helen Reddy was an Australian-American singer and actress.

Born into a show business family, Reddy began her career in entertainment at age four, singing on the radio. At 25, she won a talent contest on the Australian variety television program Bandstand (1966) and moved to the states to pursue a career in music.

She is perhaps best known for singing the 1972 anthem I Am Woman, and for playing Sister Ruth in the film Airport 1975 (1974). Reddy starred in the original Walt Disney film Pete's Dragon (1977), and sang "Candle on the Water" on that film's soundtrack.

In addition to charting 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, including three number ones, she also appeared in the television series The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The Jeffersons, BeastMaster, Diagnosis Murder, and did voiceover work on Family Guy.

Reddy died September 29, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. She was 78.
