Howard Davies was a British director of theater. The acclaimed director is best known for helming Tony-nominated productions of Private Lives, The Iceman Cometh and Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Davies also won the Laurence Olivier Award for best director three times.

Additionally, Davies directed Kathleen Turner in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Kevin Spacey in A Moon for the Misbegotten.

He also directed episodes of the British television series Armadillo and Performance, both of which aired in the U.S., as well as the television movies Copenhagen, Piaf and Blue/Orange.

Davies died October 25, 2016. He was 71.
