Born in New York in 1913, Howard G. Barnes began his career in radio, joining the Navy Film & Radio Production Unit during WWII. Ultimately he became the vice president in charge of programming at CBS Radio.
Barnes took his experience in radio to CBS Television, where he worked in the same role on classic television shows such as The Twilight Zone, Rawhide and Route 66. He also worked as a talent supervisor, and helped in the development of The Danny Kaye Show, among others.
Barnes produced three feature films: One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovitch, Squeeze a Flower and Amsterdam Affair.
Barnes died December 8, 2014, in Woodland Hills, California. He was 100.
