James Drury was an American actor.

A student of theater at New York University and UCLA, Drury is most widely recognized for playing the title role on the television show The Virginian.

He also had recurring roles in the series Firehouse and Walker, Texas Ranger, and guest starred in a number of programs including Rawhide, Stagecoach West, The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, The Yank, The Rebel, Death Valley Days, Cheyenne, Black Saddle, Lawman, Have Gun Will Travel, Bronco, The Texan, Playhouse 90, Man With Out a Gun, Broken Arrow, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Drury also appeared in the films The Tender Trap (1955), Forbidden Planet (1956), The Last Wagon (1956), Love Me Tender (1956), Bernardine (1957), Ten Who Dared (1960), Ride the High Country (1962), and Maverick (1994).

Drury died April 6, 2020, in Houston, Texas. He was 85.
