Jimmy Perry was a renowned British television writer, producer and actor best known for the comedy series Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hi-de-Hi and You Rang M'Lord?, which he created with frequent collaborator David Croft.
His shows aired from the 1960s through the ’90s; for much his work, he drew on his life experiences in the British military during World War II.
Perry, who also wrote songs, received an Ivor Novello Award in 1971 for the Dad's Army theme, "Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Hitler?"
His other professional accolades included an Order of the British Empire honor in 1978.
Perry died on October 23, 2016. He was 93.
