Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was a professional wrestler who was known for performing acrobatic leaps and jumps while confronting his opponents in the ring.

A native of Fiji, Snuka moved to Hawaii with his family when he was a child. He became a competitive bodybuilder, and earned the titles of Mr. Hawaii, Mr. Waikiki and Mr. North Shore, before making the decision to pursue wrestling in the early 1970s.

In the years that followed, he became one of the most popular wrestlers on the circuit, along with such contemporaries as Dutch Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ted DiBiase, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and many other famed grapplers.

His numerous television appearances included dozens of competitions in series and specials for the WWF, WCW, XWF and other wrestling entities. Along the way he won the ECW Heavyweight Championship two times, as well as the organization's Television Championship. He was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 1996.

He became embroiled in controversy in 2015, when he was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 1983 death of a woman he was involved with, Nancy Argentino, who was found dead in a Pennsylvania hotel room. In early 2017 a judge dismissed charges against Snuka, reportedly after he was declared mentally unfit to stand trial.

Snuka died on January 15, 2017, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was 73.
