John Cygan was an actor and voice performer best known for his work on The Commish, the police dramedy starring Michael Chiklis, which aired on ABC from 1991 to 1996.

Cygan also appeared on the series Bob, in a starring role opposite Bob Newhart, and had parts on The X-Files, Frasier, Diagnosis Murder, The Hughleys, Becker, NYPD Blue, Judging Amy, The Shield and Modern Family.

He lent his voice skills to a long list of animated films, including Cars, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Surf’s Up, WALL-E, Up, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Toy Story 3, The Lorax, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, Inside Out and Minions.

Additionally, Cygan worked on two installments of Metal Gear Solid 2, as well as video games in the Star Wars, Halo, Medal of Honor, Lord of the Rings and Grand Theft Auto franchises.

Cygan died May 13, 2017, in Woodland Hills, California. He was 63.
