John Ward was a television producer best known for the 1980s comedy series Charles in Charge.
A native of Colorado, Ward worked in New York City as a Broadway stage manager and as a unit manager on Saturday Night Live; he also worked for NBC News in London and CNN throughout Europe, before moving to Los Angeles.
In L.A., he was an associate producer on several made-for-TV movies prior to serving in the same role on Charles in Charge. The show, which aired on CBS before continuing for several years in syndication, starred Scott Baio as a college student who works as a family's live-in babysitter.
His other credits included The New Lassie, on which he worked as a production manager and producer, as well as The Robert Guillaume Show and Harry and the Hendersons.
Ward died on May 11, 2015, in Corona, California. He was 73.
