John Zacherle was the host of television horror movies on local TV stations in New York and Pennsylvania during the 1950s and 1960s. He also worked as a radio personality and voice actor.

Zacherle, who dressed up in ghoulish costumes — like that of an undertaker, who was nicknamed the “Cool Ghoul” by Dick Clark.

He hosted Action in the Afternoon, a daytime Western; Shock Theater; and Disc-O-Teen, a teenage dance show.

He also made appearances on What’s My Line?, Saturday Night Live and Howard Stern on Demand.

Zacherle died October 27, 2016, in New York City. He was 98.
