Jon Mercedes, a manager, publicist, producer, executive and writer, died September 14, 2013, at his Hollywood home. He was 65.
According to news reports, the cause was colon cancer.
A native of Cuba, Mercedes began his entertainment career in the 1970s. At different times he produced standup shows for Latino comedians, wrote for the comedy series Happy Days, worked as an executive at Esparza/Katz Productions and Fiesta Studios and was a personal manager who represented several popular television stars.
His clients included included Charlene Tilton (Dallas), Claudia Lonow (Knots Landing), Susan Richardson (Eight Is Enough), Tracey Bregman (The Young and the Restless) and Jimmy Baio (Soap).
