Mack Newberry was a publicist who worked with numerous renowned musical artists and entertainers.

A native of Texas, Newberry had his own public relations firm in Houston, where he represented the Astrodome and coordinated the publicity campaign for the so-called "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King.

After moving to California, he joined the L.A. firm Solters Roskin Friedman and worked with such clients as Dolly Parton, Carol Burnett, Donny and Marie Osmond, John Denver, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme and Rita Moreno.

He also managed press for the films My Girl and Straight Talk and the TV series seaQuest 2032.

In addition, he was part of the team that handledvpublicity for the Grammy Awards for many years,

Newberry died August 8, 2014, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was 89.
