Marcia Wallace was an actress best known for the role of receptionist Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show and for voicing schoolteacher Edna Krabappel on the long-running animated comedy The Simpsons. For the latter, she won a Primetime Emmy for outstanding voiceover performance in 1992.

The Iowa native began her career in the New York theater and later broke into television and movies.

In addition to Bob Newhart and The Simpsons, her other televison credits included episodes of such series as Bewitched, Columbo, The Brady Bunch, ALF, Taxi, Full House, Murphy Brown, Murder, She Wrote and 7th Heaven.

Wallace's feature films included Teen Witch and Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College.

In 1985, Wallace was diagnosed with breast cancer, after which she published a memoir titled Don’t Look Back, We’re Not Going That Way!

She died October 25, 2013, at age 70.
