Mary Ann Hooper was an American television writer, producer, and director.

She worked with CBS as a casting director, casting over 70 television pilots, and produced four concert specials featuring gospel singer Mahalia Jackson.

Hooper taught writing classes at annual summer festivals held by The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts, working with young people preparing for careers in the entertainment business.

Hooper had been a Television Academy member since 1998, and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Writing - Special Class for her work on the 1983-84 series, Breakaway.

Hooper died May 16, 2019, in Desert Hot Springs, California. She was 91.
