Michael Filerman was a producer who worked on such successful television series as Dallas, Knots Lnding and Sisters and later went on to produce more than a dozen Broadway shows.

When Filerman served in the Army after college, his drill sergeant was Fred Silverman, who later became his boss at WGN in Chicago and CBS in New York. He eventually moved to CBS's Los Angeles offices, and then went to work at Paramount Television, followed by Lorimar.

At Lorimar, he worked on several series in addition to Dallas, Knots Landing and Sisters, including Flamingo Road, Emerald Point N.A.S., Falcon Crest and The Client. He also produced a number of made-for-television movies.

In the years that followed, Filerman worked extensively in the theater and produced a number of Broadway plays, including A Christmas Story, American Idiot, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Country Girl, Blithe Spirit, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Enron, November and Frozen. He received eight Tony nominations and won two — for a 2009 revival of The Norman Conquests and a 2012 musical revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess.

Filerman died January 25, 2014, in Los Angeles. He was 76.
