Michu Meszaros was a performer best known as a member of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Baliey Circus and as the person inside the furry suit of the title character on the NBC comedy series ALF.
The Hungarian-born performer, who at full height was 2' 9" tall, was for many years unoficially known as smallest man in the world. He began performing with the circus at age 14 and went on to tour the world and perform for such renowned public figures as former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.
He also found work as an actor, most notably on ALF — an acronym for Alien Life Form — in which he performed in scenes that required the character's full body to be shown. Paul Fusco provided the character's voice.
Meszaros' other television credits included the series Dear John and H.R. Pufnstuf, as well as a Pepsi commercial with music icon Michael Jackson.
He also appeared in the movies Look Who's Talking, Big Top Pee-wee, Waxwork, Freaked and Warlock: The Armageddon.
In addition, he appeared on the cover of the 1967 album Strange Days by the rock band the Doors.
Meszaros died on June 13, 2016, in Torrance, California. He was 76.
