Patrick Moran is executive vice president of ABC Studios, with all studio creative and production operations reporting to him. Under his supervision, ABC Studios sold more new shows than any other studio for the 2015-16 television season with a record 13 new series picked up including The Catch from Shondaland, The Family from Mandeville Television, Quantico from The Mark Gordon Company, and comedies The Real O'Neals and The Muppets. Since assuming his current position, the studio has experienced unprecedented growth with over 30 series currently in production.
Moran and his team have recruited high profile talent to ABC Studios, such as Fake Empire (Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage) and John Ridley, and have continued to oversee development deals in place with Shondaland (Shonda Rhimes), Mandeville Television and other prominent creative talent. Moran's development slate has included the hit series How to Get Away with Murder, for which Viola Davis won the EMMY for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series; black-ish; Once Upon a Time; American Crime, for which Regina King won the EMMY for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie; Nashville; Scandal; Secrets and Lies; and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC Studios also produces series for multiple networks outside of ABC, including, Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Code Black for CBS, Devious Maids for Lifetime and Grandfathered for FOX.
In 2013, Moran launched ABC Signature, the Studio boutique division focused on cable and streaming outlets. Signature is currently producing Dead of Summer for ABC Family/Freeform and has set up projects at Amazon, FX, HBO, Hulu, Maker, National Geographic, Showtime, TNT, and TV Land.
Previously, Moran served as senior vice president & head of Creative Development for ABC Studios, where he oversaw all comedy and drama development for the Studio. Prior to working at ABC Studios, Moran was senior vice president of Drama Development at 20th Century Fox Television, where he developed such successful series as Glee, Bones and Prison Break. He also served as vice president of Drama Development at UPN, president of Renaissance Pictures and vice president of Production and Development at New Line Television.
