Perry Botkin Jr. was an American film and television composer.

Botkin is perhaps best known for the writing the theme song for the daytime television soap opera, The Young and The Restless, which was retitled Nadia’s Theme when it was used during the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Throughout a four-decade long career, he composed and arranged music for a number of television series including The Smothers Brothers Show, Quark, Adam’s Rib, The Tortellis, Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, and Laverne & Shirley.

Botkin also composed music for feature films such as They Only Kill Their Masters (1972), Goin’ South (1978), Tarzan the Ape Man (1981), and Weekend Warriors (1986). He shared an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for his contribution to Bless the Beasts & Children (1971), and won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement for Nadia’s Theme.

Botkin died January 18, 2021, in Burbank, California. He was 87.
