Pete Burns was a singer-songwriter and performer best known as the lead singer of the 1980s goth new wave band Dead or Alive.

Their hit single, “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record),” was featured in a variety of films and television shows, including the series CSI: Miami, Dancing with the Stars, Chuck, EastEnders and Glee, as well as the movies The Wedding Singer, The Hangover, The Ugly Truth, Couples Retreat, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, The A-Team and Pitch Perfect.

Burns, an eccentric personality himself, appeared on a variety of talk shows and reality programs, including Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother 4, in which he finished in fifth place.

He also appeared on Top of the Pops, V Graham Norton, Wife Swap, Ultimate Big Brother, Celebrity Wedding Planner and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Burns died October 23, 2016. He was 57.
