Richard Carlton was an executive at Trans Lux Television, which brought such animated series as Speed Racer and Felix the Cat to the United States.

The New York City native began his career at Columbia PIctures before serving in World War II, after which he returned to the entertainment industry.

In addition to his tenure with Trans Lux, Carlton served as deputy director of the American Film Institute and as executive director of the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Carlton died May 10, 2014, in White Plains, New York. He was 95.
