Richard Glatzer was a writer and director best known for his work on the 2014 film Still Alice, which earned Julianne Moore a slew of awards, including an Oscar for best actress.

He co-directed the film and co-wrote the adapted screenplay with partner Wash Westmoreland about a woman (played by Moore) who develops early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Glatzer himself was battling ALS during production of the film and communicated on set using text-to-speech technology.

Glatzer and Westmoreland, who were life partners as well as work partners , married in 2013.

They made their first splash as filmmakers with Quinceañera, a film about a pregnant 14-year-old girl growing up in Los Angeles's Echo Park district. The drama took the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The duo also co-wrote and co-directed the 2013 film The Last of Robin Hood, starring Dakota Fanning, Susan Sarandon and Kevin Kline.

Glatzer's work in television included more than 100 episodes as a consultant on America’s Next Top Model, and just under 100 as a producer on the long-running reality competition series. He also worked as a producer on Divorce Court and as a writer on the series Maxie’s World.

Glatzer died March 10, 2015, in Los Angeles. He was 63.
