Rick Parfitt was a guitarist, singer and songwriter for the British rock band Status Quo. Parfitt penned some of the band’s better known songs, including “Whatever You Want” and “Backwater.”

They notably performed on the series Top of the Pops, as well as at one of the biggest concerts of all time: 1985's Live Aid. Parfitt later appeared on the series Top Gear, and on several episodes of Coronation Street.

He died December 24, 2016, in Marbella, Spain. He was 68.
