Robert Axelrod was an American actor, musician, and voice actor.

Perhaps best known for his voicing of Lord Zedd in the children’s television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Axelrod’s voice gave way to the creation of over 160 characters including Brainy Smurf in The Smurfs and the Magic Flute (1983 US version), and various characters in Noozles (1984), Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2000), and two Digimon series.

Axelrod also appeared in over 30 feature films including Murphy’s Law (1986), Death Wish 4 (1987), The Blob (1988) and had a recurring role in the television series The Neighbors (2015).

He began a long and successful career as a child actor, working in commercials and theater, becoming a full-time guitarist in the early 1970’s before turning to full-time voice over work.

Axelrod died September 7th, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. He was 70.
