Robert C. Thompson was a producer, director, writer and executive who worked on television series and films.

After earning a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from UCLA, he began his career in the mailroom at Universal and rose to become Head of Talent. He later moved to Cinema Center Films, CBS’s feature film division, where he served as Executive in Charge of Talent and later Executive of Creative Affairs. 

He was a producer on the film “The Paper Chase” and its TV adaptation of the same name. He also directed three episodes of the TV version. 

Thompson later became a TV director and worked on numerous series including Hill Street Blues, Dallas, Magnum, P.I., Dynasty, The Greatest American Hero, Fame, Fantasy Island, as well as several ABC and CBS School Afterschool and Schoolbreak Specials. 

Thompson had also served as a Talent Manager at Group III Management while also spending several years teaching and mentoring young actors at USC, UCLA, and Pepperdine.
