Ron McLarty was an American actor, playwright, and novelist.

Perhaps best known for portraying Sgt. Frank Belson on the private-eye television drama series Spenser: For Hire, McLarty also had recurring roles in Cop Rock, Champs, Trinity, Ed, Law & Order, and Rescue Me.

He guest starred on Sex and the City, Third Watch, The Practice, Judging Amy, Person of Interest, and lent his voice to the animated series Courage the Cowardly Dog.

A leading audiobook narrator for nearly 30 years, McLarty also narrated over 100 novels for authors such as Stephen King, Danielle Steel, Anne Rice, and Elmore Leonard.

McLarty died February 8, 2020, in New York City, New York. He was 72.
