Ronald Pickup was a British actor.

A student of the the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Pickup's breakthrough role came in 1964 when he was cast as a physician in the Doctor Who episode, "The Tyrant of France."

He would go on to appear on the stage and screen for the next half century.

On television, he had recurring roles in series such as The Dragon's Opponent, Not with a Bang, The Worst Week of My Life, Holby City, Young Dracula, Atlantis, and The Crown. He also had leading roles in a number of mini-series and guest starred in Midsomer Murders, Doc Martin, Call the Midwife, Matlock, Silent Witness, and Downton Abbey.

On the stage, Pickup starred alongside icons such as Laurence Olivier, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen and had equal company on the big screen in The Day of the Jackal (1973), Never Say Never Again (1983), Eleni (1985), The Mission (1986), A Dry White Season (1989), Lolita (1997), The Beset Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), and Darkest Hour (2017).

Pickup died February 24, 2021. He was 80.
