Sally Forest was an actress and dancer best known for her roles in the 1949 films Never Fear and Not Wanted. In the latter, she played an unwed mother who puts her baby up for adoption and then wants him back. Not Wanted also marked the directorial debut of actress Ida Lupino (one of the few women directors of the era), whom Forrest would team up with again for Never Fear and Hard, Fast and Beautiful. Never Fear, which Lupino wrote and directed, featured Forrest as an up-and-coming dancer paralyzed from polio.

Trained as a trained dancer, Forrest taught ballet while she was still in high school. She was also the choreographer and lead dancer for her first film, Till the Clouds Roll By. She went on to appear in MGM musicals and had musical spots on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Dinah Shore Show and The Red Skelton Hour. She also worked on Broadway, in the original production of The Seven Year Itch, and in major stage productions of Damn Yankees, As You Like It and No, No, Nanette.

She worked extensively in television as well, including episodes of Suspense, Studio One in Hollywood, Schlitz Playhouse, The United States Steel Hour, The Millionaire, General Electric Theater, Rawhide and Family Affair.

Forrest died March 15, 2015, in Beverly Hills, California. She was 86.
